It's like playing league growing up, the coaches are immature and take it so seriously that it kills the fun in it. Set play this and set play that. Then you try something a little different and they bench you aha.

French and Japanese and maybe the US league are the only feasible league in the northern hemisphere. The south has Super rugby and it’s not going well. Union is popular globally but it’s not as popular as far as leagues go

I'm not trying to piss the die-hards off too much, but the game really has to change. Change the rules. Change the structure of the game. Even look at other sports for some influence. And before the die-hards say, "You can't do that, that's not Rugby," well, I'll remind them that a try was once worth no points, the scrum wasn't always the 3-4-1 configuration that it now is, and you could kick the ball from the ground in open play over the crossbar to score points.

Where is that first interview

Once again we saw in the Australia vs Wales match (6th July) why nobody watches rugby any more. The penalties, which play a large part in scoring, are hardly ever explained properly by the commentary or the refs for the viewers. The organisation in charge is clueless. They must be a bunch of old farts. The refs in NRL games use the PA to explain penalty decisions clearly, making it much more entertaining.

The cards make it annoying, tmo stopping and analysing everything, lack of tries and too many rolling mauls... Where do i start

Rugby union is played by private school boys whose dads played rugby union at private schools. The pool gets smaller and smaller. It will be dead in Australia within 3 generations

So, if you have so little purpose that you have to go overseas to fight people with the same struggles of everyone, are you really helping the people or just the order?? This world runs on manipulation the higher you reach.

Rugby in Australia has been dying ever since it went professional. The only people playing it are private schoolboys. Any kid with a lick of talent steers towards league for the opportunities and the money nowadays.

But late to this but I would highly recommend his second channel: Jordan Shanks. The dude is super switched on and knows his shit. It's a self help channel but it's also just a great insight into the mindset of someone like Jordan. It's even more schizophrenic than his main channel but that's what keeps it entertaining.

Heston and Mark. Well done for bringing in the boot and crushing ABC’s balls for slanted, heavy handed journalism without fact-checking and getting two sides of the story. Heston I feel gutted listening to the misrepresentation of you and your troops that led you down the path of psychological demoralisation, but this has led you to a high purpose in life to help many others who share the same pain you went through and, to some extent, are still going through. I salute you and thank you for risking your life in service to us!

Anyone who complains about how the game has changed has not been paying close enough attention. The law changes were for good reasons and mostly worked. The game is more interesting and skillful than ever. The world you are missing moslty existed because players couldn't kick as well, couldn't defend as well, and knocked the ball on every 5th pass. Now that space doesn't exist any more at the pro level. Watch amateur Rugby if you want that, or MLR. The old scrum system, aside from safety, also lead to a dozen scrum resets every game. You are just forgetting that with hindsight. The rucks took 5 times as long and the defense still didn't get in place in time. Like you are saying, the global market is doing fine. This is an Aussie problem. Don't blame it on the laws or the game changing. What you are complaining about is players being too skilled and that's just so wild to me. Pay more attention. If they can do it the USA how can you not figure out Aus. Aussies are the biggest and best sports supporters in the world. Yall have a world cup coming up, sort it out. I dont wanna hear some ex player complaining that the saffas kick too much on an international broadcast. We got too much of them prats already.

Great interview! Unfortunately SuperRugby is a bit of a non-entity in Australia now. Born and raised in Canberra, I relocated to regional Victoria in 2022. They ask you, "do you follow the footy?" "I don't like AFL, I like rugby" I say to them. Then they reply, "Oh yeah, which team? The Storm?" I don't say anything in reply but I think to myself, "they don't even know the difference between union and league down here." But this is the case for many parts of the country, even along the eastern seaboard.

It's also really expensive to go to Super Rugby games

George has always been a stand up guy. Ignorant people can continue to malign him, but I respect him, his values, and I appreciate his skills and food knowledge.

We paid to see Eric on stage once. Was a comedy thing with another guy. They were drinking during the first half - thought that it was ok, just part of the act. Second half after break comes around and both guys were sitting on chairs on stage drunk, slurring. No act to see whatsoever. More than half of the people who came to see them walked out! It was awful. 😞
